Bye, Bye Gerber.

January 15, 2009

Well it comes without surprise that Martin Gerber has found himself in Binghamton today.

The Swiss goaltender has been sent down to the baby sens for a two week “conditioning stint” which politely translates to “hold on while we look for somewhere to move you or place you on waivers.”

Gerber has a 4-9-1 record with a 2.86 goals-against average and .899 save-percentage in 14 games this season.

Gerber, 34 has been replaced by prospect Brian Elliott who has enjoyed a solid year in Binghamton and has started the last three contests for Ottawa going 2-1.

Awesome! But, Should He Stay or Should He Go?

Check out this awesome wallpaper made during Brian’s reign between the pipes at the University of Wisconsin.

Brian has the heart of a champion and the skill to match. The former Badger has been great in his first two starts and pretty much has claimed the starting role for now.  The only problem is this is coming a little too late.  Ottawa needs to realize that going on a mediocre winning streak right now can be potentially lethal to the organization.  Sure it would be nice to finally see a competent goaltender backstopping our team in the right direction but the more we improve at this point the further we are from a sweet draft pick!  So the question is this…
