Heater? Really?

According to sources at Sun Media Dany Heatley may be looking to be traded away from the team he has had his most success with.

Apparently Heater is not meshing well with new rookie coach, Cory Clouston.  He allegedly feels that he is not able to play his style of game under the new coach’s outlined strategies.

With #15 set to make nearly $8million this year it may prove difficult for Bryan Murray to find a buyer willing to take that type of cap hit.

Hey maybe Philly will try and snag him and give Rayzor and Heater a little reunion? (ha-ha)

I’m sure more news will come of this in the days to follow!

Sutter Helping Pay The Bills?

January 26, 2009

According to one of my sources in Ottawa, Bryan Murray may be working on a deal right now that would find Martin Gerber a new home within the next few days.  The Calgary Flames have allegedly expressed interest in the Senators outcast as a backup to superstar Miikka Kiprusof.  GM Darryl Sutter would pay half of the remaining salary Gerber collects this year leaving Ottawa on the hook for a reasonable $750,000. Gerber was sent down to Binghamton for a two week conditioning stint but was apparently told by Murray if he had an outstanding game before the end of it Murray would work hard and have a better shot at finding a Pro home for Darth.

BFF’s?

October 3, 2008

There is a rumour circulating that Mats Sundin and Peter Forsberg might join forces with Colorado in early 2009.

This makes total sense to me…

For most people caught up in the “Sundin Sweepstakes” there is a certainty in the air that he will only go to a Canadian team, as this will most likely sit better with leafs fans. I am not entirely sure what that means exactly but I sort of understand at the same time. One thing I am sure of is that the Colorado Avalanche used to play in Quebec and well Quebec is sort of in Canada. (depending on who you talk to)

I promised myself I would not give anymore attention to this dead horse situation but I love silly rumours just as much as the next guy!

Peter Forsberg a Quebec Nordique product like Sundin is definitely in his last days as a healthy competitor. What better person to make one last attempt at the cup with than your fellow countryman who you have had golden success with on an International level and happen to be good friends with.

Next Stop The Eastern Conference?

September 30, 2008

The “Bhulin wall” cleared waivers today and as expected has started rumour frenzy.  Khabibulin is in the final year of a four year $27 million dollar contract and has not done much since his cup win with the Lightning in 2004.

According to sources the 35 year old Russian is being considered by Ottawa, Atlanta, and the Rangers.

Eklund has been hearing things again!

September 17, 2008

According to the ever so popular trade rumour king there may be a deal in the works between the Vancouver Canucks and the New York Rangers.

His source allegedly claims that NYR want Bieksa, Kevin (D) and another player to be named for Gomez, Scott (C)

I imagine this would all depend on whether or not NYR are still in the Sundin, Mats (C) sweepstakes. We can’t forget that Shanahan, Brendan (R) is still to be signed, sealed and delivered.

Eklund goes onto say that he understands Gomez is being considered by three teams that are evaluating whether or not they can fit him under their present cap.  Those teams are the Vancouver Canucks, Edmonton Oilers, and most likely the Minnesota Wild who may or may not be looking to move the perennially injury plagued Gaborik, Marian (R).
